Due to its geographical location and a particularly convenient taxation regime, Macedonia may be an attractive place for conducting different types of offshore businesses. Legislation of this jurisdiction is still in a transition period due to a number of political events and movements at the end of the XX century. The country’s authorities continue introducing a number of changes to the legislation and reforms, in order to create a favorable business environment and attract international investors and entrepreneurs. It is evident that the government welcomes international entities for offshore company formation for different purposes, including offshore financial institutions, but it still needs some additional time, in order to confirm itself as a well-established offshore jurisdiction which adheres to international standards and requirements. At present, it is recommended to evaluate business opportunities in Macedonia on the individual basis.
